Stubborn Farm/ Burk Beef is committed to growing high quality, ethically raised produce and grass finished beef. All of our produce is grown organically (although not certified) and harvested by hand every week to satisfy our customers at the Durango Farmers Market and the Dolores River Brewery. Our produce thrives on healthy soil our attention. We do not use any herbicides, and rarely use pesticides. When we must use pesticides, we INSIST on organically approved pesticides. Generally speaking, I prefer the use of “trap crops” to manage my pests. We also do not use fertilizer (organic or otherwise) and instead, use “green manures” to maintain healthy soil.

You can find our beef at Olio’s, the Durango Farmers Market, P & D Grocery, Absolute Bakery and Cafe, and Fahrenheit Coffee Roasters. Our beef is “all natural” (again, not certified), meaning that we never use antibiotics or hormones. Our cows are fed high quality grass year-round and are never fed grain. We believe that cattle genetics are the most important aspect when it comes to grass-fed/finished beef. Our cows originated from a local herd that has been in the valley for over 100 years. In addition, we have carefully selected cows that produce the most delicious, tender, and even tempered offspring. We keep our cows in the Mancos Valley all year and do not graze on public lands.
